Another blogger gets sick of politics

I hear you, brother.

I feel the same way, although I will spare you all my own recipes and poetry.

The country is a giant cruise ship. The captain is lousy, and most people seem to know it, although when they last had a chance to switch captains, they figured "why bother?" The ship's course is set, and one person can't do anything about it. Hell, even if you got a whole bunch of your fellow passengers to want to change course, it won't work, because all you guys have is a few oars to stick in the water, and that won't do much to change the direction of a giant ship.

So, might as well just enjoy the buffet and the entertainment, and maybe hit the casino. Hell, if you are intellectually inclined, the ship has an awesome library and there are plenty of smart people to chat with with. Just try not to fool yourself with the idea that anyone else cares. Most of your fellow passengers just want to sun themselves by the pool anyway, not plot course corrections; that's the captain's job, and he knows it best even when he doesn't.

So, try to remember there is still more ocean then icebergs, so the odds are that the whole boat won't sink no matter how crappy the captain and some of the officers are...go enjoy a show!
