Rules for Local TV news coverage of winter storms

1. Show a reporter standing outside in the snow. Yep, it's snowing. Back to you at the anchor desk.

2. Show traffic going really slow. Did you know it's hard to drive in snow? For bonus Action News coverage, show a close-up of spinning tires.

3. Interview a guy in a snowplow. He's sure working hard. Make sure to pass along the breaking story that they plows will hit major streets first, then go back for the secondary roads.

4. Show kids sledding. The big scoop -- kids love getting out of school and playing in the snow...who'd of thunk it?

5. Finally, visit the Storm Center for the snowfall forecast map, which might sometimes vaguely resemble what is actually happening outside.

As a bonus, note the large scrolling event cancellation crawl on the bottom of the screen. Tell people over and over again about it, in case they somehow don't notice it, even though it takes up a quarter of the screen.
