Random technology-related things which are pissing me off today

1. Apple's stupid iPod Firmware Updaters showing up in Software Update, even on Macs where I have never, and will never actually attach an iPod. If the Software Update server is smart enough to only show me updates for other software I have installed (i.e. iPhoto updates will only show up on computers with iPhoto installed) why can't it be smart enough to only show the iPod updater on Macs where an iPod has been attached?

2. People who name the music files in their torrents with stupid, meaningless default names. I do thank you very much for lovingly spending hours digitally encoding, cleaning up, and creating a torrent from that great old Rush show from 1982, but if you are going to spend all that time, how much harder would it have been to name the files something like "02. Analog Kid.flac" instead of "d1track4.flac?"

3. Websites which force me to change my password every x number of days. Yes, it is so much more secure when I change my password from "password1" to "password2" and so on every month. I know that people using insecure passwords is a real problem, but this is not the solution (and for that matter, neither is forcing people to create extra-long random alpha-numeric passwords including punctuation -- sure they are a lot harder to guess, and also a lot harder to remember...so you might as well write it down and put it under the keyboard then, eh?)
